Walking With God Through the Valley by

Sermon Title:  Walking with God through the Valley
Scripture Reading:  Lamentations 3:19-26, 55-57;  Psalm 27

The Scriptures are filled with stories of a loving God leading His children through seasons of pain, doubt, loneliness, fear, depression, and loss. In Walking with God through the Valley, guest preacher Samantha Winn challenges us with her own story of pain and addiction to consider a Heavenly Father who is big enough to carry all of our grief, pain and our doubts.

Lent to Easter 2016 (2 of 7) by

Sermon Series:  Living Ink: Learning to Live in God's Story
Sermon Title:  Wherever He Leads I’ll Go (2 of 7)
Scripture Reading:  Exodus 33:1-3, 7, 12-17; Psalm 23:1-6; Matthew 14:22-33

Lent is a 40-day season when the church commemorates the time Jesus spent in solitude, in silence, and fasting in the wilderness. Jesus prepared himself in the wilderness for what the Father had for him in his life and ministry. In this season of wandering and preparation, we are invited to make room for God’s Spirit as we allow him to become the source of our strength and the Lord of our lives. In our Living Ink worship series, we will discover through the Scriptures that God is the Author of a grand narrative—a tale that encompasses all our struggles, pain, joys, and victories. This Author calls us to co-authorship, using our very lives to continue the Kingdom mission and vision of Jesus in a world poised for resurrection.

Once we have entered into God’s story, we learn to live in the grand narrative by allowing the Spirit to lead and guide us. We show our dependency and faith in God when we ask him to go before us, even if it means we must walk through a dark valley or weather the storm. In Wherever He Leads I’ll Go (2 of 7), pastor David calls us to trust in Jesus as our shepherd in good and bad times.

Lent to Easter 2015 (4 of 7) by

Sermon Series: Lent to Easter 2015
Sermon Title: The God Who Isn't Scared of the Dark
Scripture Reading: John 3:14-21, 8:12, 12:46; Numbers 21:4-9; Psalm 18:2-6, 25-28

What is God doing? What does he want to do? Whatever God is doing, it isn't "same old, same old." God wants to do a new thing!

Our Lent to Easter 2015 series focuses our attention on our need to see how and where God is at work in our personal walk with him, and in the life of our church. Are we listening? Do we recognize the Holy Spirit at work?

Life is hard, and sometimes it feels like we’re alone. The world can be a dark and scary place, and we can even find ourselves in that darkness, lost in the shadows. But God is present and able to rescue us. He isn’t scared of the dark. Jesus, the light of the world, has come to expose the darkness and dispel the fear of sin and death. It’s where we least expect to find God that he can be found, walking in the valley with us. To our amazement, he invites us to meet him there and be changed by the experience.
