Obeying Jesus (5 of 7) by

Sermon Series:  Obeying Jesus: 7 Commands for Every Disciple
Sermon Title:  Thy Kingdom Come (5 of 7)
Scripture Reading:  Matthew 6:5-15; Luke 18:9-14; Mark 1:35

In his last moments on earth with his core disciples, Jesus said, “Go and make disciples… teaching them to obey all that I have commanded.” So, what are these commands that sincere, authentic followers of Jesus should be obeying? In our Obeying Jesus: 7 Commands for Every Disciple series, we will look closely at the teachings and practices that Jesus said are basic and foundational to faithfully following him.

The disciples observed that Jesus prayed a lot. They also heard Jesus critique the prayers of the Pharisees and their pious prayers. Naturally, they ask Jesus to teach them how to pray. So Jesus tells them the way they should pray is to be supremely concerned for God’s Kingdom to come.

In Thy Kingdom Come (5 of 7), pastor David helps us to see how Jesus frames all of prayer as a cry for Kingdom. Listen to David and view the slides here.

When God Speaks by

Sermon Title:  When God Speaks
Scripture Reading:  1 Samuel 3:1-10; John 10:14, 27; Hebrews 3:12-19

The Scripture tells us that God wants to speak to his children. The problem is we’re not always listening. Why is that? Do we know when God is speaking to us? When Samuel was just a small boy, he heard from God, but he didn’t recognize God’s voice. He needed help in learning to listen so he could respond in obedience. In the message, When God Speaks, pastor David shares about ways God can speak to us, and what we can do to be attentive and receptive to his voice.

Not Against Flesh & Blood (4 of 7) by

In the beginning the Triune God created an orderly universe out of love. Then somewhere in the primordial past a portion of his angelic agents began working against the Creator—war in the unseen realms! In this series, David addresses how things came to be broken the way they are today, and how the spiritual forces of evil are still at work exploiting human weakness and opposing God's will. It's a struggle between good and evil, but ultimately the real battle is not one of flesh and blood. In the fourth message, David talks about the practical side of prayer with a challenge to use a disciplined imagination to see who and what we're praying for.
