Sermon Title:  The God Who Creates New Hearts (5 of 7)
Scripture Reading: Jeremiah 31:31-34; John 12:23-36; 2 Corinthians 5:16-17

Sermon Focus: Christ calls us to deny ourselves in order to receive new life. His gift to us is his covenant written on our hearts. God’s life and law are internalized and becomes a part of who we are, fusing his Spirit with our own. God makes a covenant we cannot break without cutting out a part of ourselves. Growing in our faith is a process of shedding the old and living in the new by accepting Jesus over and over again. God creates new hearts when we deny ourselves and surrender to the way of the Spirit.
